Shop Austin 2009 Was a Hit!

It's been a little over a week since the Lone Star Ladies produced our first event - Shop Austin 2009 - and we're feeling rested enough to give you a recap!

Saturday April 18th started off grey and wet - but nothing could dampen the spirit of those involved in the show. We planned Shop Austin 2009 for a year - and we were ready! With breakfast tacos and donuts on hand, we arrived at Saengerrunde Hall at 7:00 am. Coffee was brewing within a few minutes, and our amazing volunteers arrived EARLY to help get the ball rolling.

By 8:30 am many of our talented vendors were loading in display and artwork - and the Hall was buzzing with excitement. Special thanks to the JROTC from Bowie High School for sending us WONDERFUL volunteers.

By 10:00 am we had a pretty long line outside of dedicated fans waiting to get one of our fabulous Goodie Bags. Two ladies had even shown up at 9:00 am - die-hard fans ready to wait in line :)

Once the doors opened - Allison and I took a deep breath and said - here we go! With dozens of shoppers flooding the hall the great attitudes of all involved were evident in the pleasant sounds of shopping, chatting and having fun. We started The Lone Star Ladies to showcase Austin's best crafters, artists and designers - and all of our attendees were very pleased with the vendors we selected.

Hey Cupcake was tempting us with sweets all day, and White Daisy Bodyworks created an oasis in her chair massage booth. After browsing the jewelry, clothing, fine art and gift items, it was time to relax in the Beauty Lounge with Mary Kay Independent Sales Director Sarita Richmond. The mascara is quite lovely, as I discovered when I needed a 2 o'clock pick me up!

As the day wound to a close, people were clutching their purchases and posing in the Photo Booth on the way out - we got lots of amazing pictures courtesy of Trevor Ray Photography. All in all, we could not be happier with the turn out of our very first event - The Lone Star Ladies Present: Shop Austin will be back in April 2010 - look for a date announcement soon, and contact us if you're interested in becoming involved.
