From the beginning Anne Marie and I wanted to promote
Shop Austin as a family-friendly shopping event showcasing handmade vendors, and what better radio station to be an
"extra!extra!" Sponsor than
The River 102.3? They even have
family-friendly mornings, which is ever important for that drive to school or daycare with the kids in the car!
Last year they surprised us with a live promote outside of our event for a couple of hours in the afternoon and this year, we have an even bigger surprise, but you will have to be at Shop Austin to get the full scoop, and listen to The River 102.3 that day, too. I will give you a hint...the surprise will include "
Roxanne on the Road"!
The River has a special place in our Shop Austin Hearts, especially Angie Ray our account manager. Back in 2008 Anne Marie and I stayed up really late the night before our meeting with her getting our first sponsor packet all in order. With great excitement, we met with Angie at The River, got a tour of the Clear Channel Studios and sat down to basically sell our show idea to her. Her positive response and support was overwhelming and it was at that moment Shop Austin became a reality for us because we had someone outside of the handmade community that was in full support of the event and in bridging the handmade vendors with the DIY crowd and mainstream shopper alike!
Shop Austin 2009 was a great success and 2010 will be even better, and our
