Vendor View with Kitty Riddle Couture and La Céramique

Have we mentioned that Shop Austin has something for everyone in your family to enjoy?  The diversity of our 2010 Vendors is well represented by the shared booth between Kitty Riddle Couture and La Céramique.  When you meet an artisan who creates work for sale - they almost always have the most interesting backgrounds and a long list of part time jobs and hobbies - nothing dull for the creative spirit!  These companies are both the brainchild of talented and richly educated women.

Kitty Riddle Couture is a line of modern, imaginative hair accessories, children's apparel, toys, and gifts.  The company is comprised of mother and daughter team Heddy Wigington and Heddy Wigington Duran, based out of Midland, Texas.

Tell us about your background:
Heddy Wigington Duran has a background in traditional patternmaking, textiles, and art.  Before having children, she was a wardrobe stylist and makeup artist in the entertainment industry. Both mother and daughter have a background in costume design, have substantial experience in clothing construction, and enjoy hand stitched details.

What makes your products uniquely "Austin"?
Our products represent the modern and casual lifestyle that is seen throughout Austin! Kitty Riddle Couture constructs "green" products, such as their unique upcycled dress. Kitty Riddle Couture is inspired by nature, arts and crafts, adventure, high end clothing and costumes. Where better to get that inspiration than in Austin!!

What is your favorite "Austin" thing to do, or restaurant to eat at, or place to go?
Town lake activities (run or canoe), Late night mexican food (Trudy's or Magnolia's), Rock and Roll - I'm also in a band called The Delicates:

Who is your biggest inspiration?
  Noam Chomsky

What makes your products uniquely "Austin"?
My designs include guitars, Central Texas birds, and some weirdness.

Know a darling little one that needs a new dress or toy?  Does your hubby or Dad need that perfect gift for Father's Day?  We've got you covered at Shop Austin - and oh, did you know that the first 30 people in line will get a free Goodie Bag worth over $200!?!
