The Hip List: Buzzin'. Book Signing', Scupltin', Quiltin' and Celebratin' - ATX Style!

This weekend is full of hip and happening events around Austin.  First up we give you a play by play for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and then we feature two weekend-long events!  Get your fanny packs ready, crafty fans - it's time to hit the road!

Art Buzz Austin
Friday, Sept. 17th, 6:30pm to 9:00pm

Art Buzz Austin is the latest exhibition at Art on 5th.  Join the artists and Austin's hip art set to celebrate this group of emerging Austin Artists.

Work ranges from fiber art, mixed media, cardboard cut-outs, oil paintings and more!  Complimentary appetizers from Sullivans and cocktails from Savvy Vodka!




Little Green Dresses Book Release Party!
Saturday, Sept. 18th, 9pm to Midnight

Austin crafter, teacher, designer and entrepreneur Tina Sparkles is celebrating the release of her first book - Little Green Dresses!  Tina has been a force in the Austin Craft/Fashion/DIY scene since 2002.   She's manufactured vegan guitar straps, played a pivotal role in the rise of Craft in America, starred in a TV Show, produced countless runway events - and is just down to earth, friendly, and passionate about the environment.

Her book features 50 Patterns for Repurposed dresses, tops, skirts and more.  The little house on
 S. 1st will be ROCKIN' this Saturday!  Bring your own glass for Sparkletinis, and get ready to meet the author and shop a special 40% Fabric Sale! (P.S. check out her recent interview in the Austin-American Statesman!)

Scupltfest
Sunday, Sept.19th, 10am to 4pm
Umlauf Sculpture Garden, 605 Robert E. Lee Rd, Austin, TX 78704

If you've never been to the Umlauf Sculpture Garden - you're missing out on one of Austin's finest treasures.  Not only can you see the work of Austin's most famous sculptor, but this Sunday you can see an array of work from 24 members of the Texas Society of Sculptors at their annual show.

The event is free, and artists will be demonstrating their work!  How often do you get to see sculpture in action? Great family activity with a clay corner for kids, and just across the street from some of Austin's hippest eateries!



Lovelypalooza

Lovely Boutique turns One!  If there is one thing the girls at Lovely do better than curate an amazing selection of vintage, couture and handmade accessories in South Austin's most darling boutique... it's throw a party! (or THREE!)  That's right - there is a different event going on every day this weekend - and each of them will be sure to tickle your senses.  From LoneStar Beer to a Stone Workshop and a Beauty Day - there is something for everyone.  Check out our coverage of the last Lovely Event for a peek into what's in store!
